In 2017, record rainfalls pummeled Houston, Texas.

Hundreds of thousands of vehicles were flood-damaged.

Two companies and a race car driver came together with a mission to rebuild and help a community.

Lucas:
I’m Lucas Kjar, CEO of AutoSavvy. I’m here with Robb Holland. We’re here to make a really exciting announcement. Tell ‘em, Robb.

Robb:
We are here at IAA Vegas, looking through their inventory. Trying to pick out the correct Toyota 86 that we are going to turn into an endurance racer, sometime in the next upcoming months. We’re really looking forward to taking you guys along on the journey. We’re going to show you step by step, how we take a salvage car, and turn it into a hopefully race winning, race car.

Finding the car.

Chet:
Here at IAA we’re very excited about teaming up with AutoSavvy, and professional race car driver, Robb Holland. We’ve searched our market place to find a Toyota that they are going to rebuild and race it this spring, in Houston.

Robb:
The really great thing is that we got this Toyota 86 from the flood salvage yard in Houston. Obviously, it was a great tragedy down there. We wanted to do something with this that gave back to the city. So, we’ve taken this flood salvage car and we’re going to take some parts from Toyota Germany and rebuild it into a race car. From there, we’re going to take that and bring it back to Houston and race in an endurance race at MSR Houston, which is a track just outside the city.

I truly hope that you’re as excited as I am to watch Robb and his team race in Houston this Spring.
