The journey begins with finding the right Toyota 86.

Robb:
We went to the IAA site, and went through to start searching and see what cars were available. One thing that we found out is that the IAA site makes it so remarkably easy to find exactly what we are looking for. We’ve narrowed it down to Toyota 86, and boom! There you go! There’s your list, and we were able to find exactly what we were looking for in a really short time.

Repairing the vehicle.

Lucas:
We have a special car I want to show you guys. This is a 2017 Toyota 86, that Robb Holland, the race car driver bought on our corporate brokerage account through IAA. We’re in partnership with him and IAA to build this car. To put it through the most ridiculous endurance race out there. It’s going to go back to Houston. We’re going to do some amazing things to this car, and then run it through an endurance race in Houston. It’s going to be super fun in April.

Lucas:
So, we’re here in the shop at Woods Cross. We’ve got the car here, and we’re ready to start working on it. But I wanted to go through the process that it took to get a high-quality vehicle like this all the way through our system into our inventory. So, what we did is we have over 30 people in Houston, right now, inspecting vehicles. We love the inventory that’s at IAA. It’s the best quality inventory that’s out there. But there are hundreds of thousands of these vehicles that are out there in different lots. We have our inspectors go through and find the best of the best that are out there. What happens from then, this vehicle gets put on the auction at IAA.

Delivering the vehicle.

Robb:
Hey, guys. You’re back with me. This time we’re here in Denver, Colorado at 3R Racing. The guys who are going to take this Toyota 86 and turn it into a race car. We just got here. The guys from AutoSavvy just got the car delivered to us. They’ve been working hard over the last couple days to take the car that was flood damaged, replace a few modules on it, and supposedly it fires up and runs like a champ. So, we’re really looking forward to getting our hands on it here. One of the other things that the guys at AutoSavvy did, and we’re going to need this later on, is they stripped the interior for us. So, we can throw a roll cage in and a bunch of the other racing components that we’re going to use later on. So, we’re super excited to get this project up and running.
