What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Subaru?

We asked our Facebook followers that same question.
A lot of responses mentioned, “snow”, “unstoppable”, and “traction”. Others mentioned, “curious”, “off-Roading”, and “hip”, which were descriptions I did NOT expect. I asked to drive a Subaru and was given the keys to a 2016 Subaru Crosstrek. Honestly, prior to this test-drive, I didn’t even know what a Crosstrek was, and I’m guessing you might not either.
So, what exactly IS a Crosstrek, Subaru’s newest model?
Last month Consumer Reports test drove the new 2018 model and had this to say:
I’d say that’s pretty high praise, right? I drive a lot of cars here at AutoSavvy and it’s usually easy to determine what vehicles are a good fit for different walks of life. With the Crosstrek, it’s not a small sedan, yet not quite an SUV. And many people might say that it’s a “crossover”, but I don’t think it’s even that.

The Crosstrek could be a great fit for many people with a wide variety of needs; it’s roomy enough for a small family or a couple with dogs, yet with fuel efficiency in the range of 30 MPG, it’s also great for the daily commuter. And with the impressive ground-clearance matching that of a Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk, it’s perfect for the outdoorsman that likes to take the road less-traveled. Finally, all Crosstreks come standard with Subaru’s famous symmetrical all wheel drive system and thus makes them a great option for anyone living in harsh snowy climates.

Speaking of snowy climates…
An August 2017 study concluded that the Subaru Crosstrek is the most searched car overall in Utah. A second study shows Subarus are currently the most searched auto maker in both Idaho and Utah.
My bottom-line view on the Crosstrek is that it’s a solid, fun, and most importantly, an extremely versatile vehicle for the price. Whether you drive an hour to the office every day, need a little extra room for a car seat or four-legged family members, or find yourself seeking canyon trails on the weekends, the spunky Crosstrek is an everyday go-getter for drivers of all ages and lifestyles.
Final Thoughts
Don’t just take my high praise of the Crosstrek, though. In a recent Motor Trend road-test, the Crosstrek took first place, beating out more expensive competitors including the Jeep Compass and Nissan Rogue. To summarize, Motor Trend crowned the champion, saying,
